This deviation illustrates the so called Parallax effect used in the header on my website [link] which becomes visible when you resize your browser window while browsing my website. This is done by some lines of css and three, percentage positioned image layers on top of the background which causes them to move at different speed when you resize the browser window.

I've made this illustration to decorate my showcase article about various websites using the CSS Parallax Effect. [link]

update: added a nice paperboard background and made the grid in the polaroid more subtle

hi axertion,

just name it: it's rather useless ;-) i often call it an easter egg and it's pretty surprising for those recognizing it. Someone pointed it out in the comments of the article describing Silverback's effect [link]
"just because 99% of people might not notice it, is why it will be so interesting to the 1% who do"

at this time i would never use this effect on any client website except they want it but i couldn't refuse to use it on my own playground since I saw Silverback's parallax [link]

and you're right, the next step would be to animate it "by itself" although I'm not a big fan of self moving objects on a website (remember the time when websites were full of animated gifs). A cool solution is this one [link] assembled with css and javascript because scrolling is way more common than resizing the window. So I will definitely get my hands on that but it's low prioritized at the moment ;-)

And thanks for commenting!

that's pretty interesting, although I don't see the point. It is a very nice feature don't get me wrong, but someone would actually have to "resize" their browser for it to show. Wouldn't it be neater if it animated by itself?
